Sean, my husband, is giving a talk tomorrow at Theology on Tap on JPIIs theology of the body, and has been busy working away each night into the wee hours preparing it. JPIIs writings have touched our marriage and our lives and we will never be the same. He has called us to move outside of our selfishness and to truly give ourselves to each other and to our family. He has given such meaning to my vocation as a wife and mother, and I'm not sure how I would have survived having twins as my 4th and 5th babies in 6 years without his teachings guiding my life.
In Familia, the program through which we have become intimately acquainted with JPIIs teachings, I just read this beautiful quotation from JPII (found in Christifideles Laici)
To all people of today I once again repeat the impassioned cry with which I
began my pastoral ministry: " Do not be afraid! Open, in deed, open wide the
doors to Christ!!" ... Do not be afraid! Christ knows 'what is inside a
person'. Only he knows! Today, too often people do not know what they
carry inside, in the deepest recesses of their sould, in their heart. Too
often people are uncertain about a sense of life on earth. Invaded by
doubts they are led into despair. Therefore-with humility and trust I beg
and imlore you- allow Christ to speak to the person in you. Only he has
the words of life, yes, eternal life"....
Humanity is loved by God!
Check out EWTNs website for some beautiful images and videos, and here where Sarah is hosting a lovliness fair about JPII to learn a few things, remember, and relive those days when he was with us.
